In this space, we will be fostering a deeper understanding of what digital Blackface is. We will be sharing definitions, ideas, and ways to show up in solidarity, even online.
Topics we will be discussing include: what Blackface is and has been historically, what digital Blackface is, what cultural appropriation is, what African American Vernacular English is, and the role social media can play in perpetuating anti-Black racism. We are going to take our time examining all of these concepts and welcome folks of all levels of familiarity with this topic to come and participate.
We recommend this workshop for ages 12+. If you fall outside that age range and would like to attend, please reach out to kay@youthproject.ns.ca
This workshop will be taking place on Zoom, and registration is required. You can find a link to the registration form via the Linktree in our bio. Once you register, you will be emailed a link to access the workshop.
